Monday

Back to school and work for everyone but me! I got a house key, bus ticket, bike and instructions and was on my own! I slept until 9 and then went to the barn and cleaned the stalls and rode Rod and hand walked Ali. They were both good boys, still on a mini vacation from showing a lot the past weekends. I got a job at the barn! The Russian man who usually does chores mon-fri broke his arm, so they need help. Dom's Dad thought it was not a good job for me, but it is only feeding breakfast and lunch and doing 15 stalls. It might only be for a few weeks if he goes to the doctor and gets a different prognosis. Hey, it's a start and money! I start Wed. After showering (haha) I took the bus into Augsburg to meet Dom and his friends for lunch. I had a few small issues with the bus (like how to open the door) but I made it with no problems. We ate chicken and fries. I ordered all by myself in German! The lady was laughing at me but I got what I wanted. It was so funny! I got to go back to school and see English class. I got asked questions for maybe 10 min... good thing I'm not shy! The teacher kept talking to me infront of the whole class wondering about school, politics, anything really. Next I went to Spanish with Dom's friend Ann-Katrin. She is my favorite of his friends. After school we went home and running. I am a fat cow after not running since I arrived here :(

I made 3 posts yesterday, my mom missed 2 of them so I was making sure everybody realized they are there. Pics from the show and a bike ride!

Happy B-day AS! I know you are reading this so.... I have a postcard but it isn't written yet ;) Have a great day and I'll be thinking of you! But please don't expect a statue of a dancer in the mail.

  1. Hi Hon!
Glad you survived your first day on your own :) We had dinner at the Kapteyn's last night and got home late. The Hings were there too and everyone says "HI!" We were on your blog and they all LOVED the photos... keep them coming! The Hings leave for Italy in two days. I am off to work. We now have a 7:45 start :( Hope you're having fun again today and CONGRATS on your job ;)
    Love you,
    Mom

  2. Hey Sweet Pea,
I'm so proud of you...your first day on your own, and you survived! Your experience with the bus door makes me laugh, it makes me think of me in Costa Rica when I ate the outside banana leaf wrapping of the tamale. Apparently I was supposed to unwrap it first. But I learned a valuable lesson that day, if you can laugh at yourself then you will make life long frineds, and out everyone at ease. So keep those hilarious mistakes coming!
And congrats on the job, even if it's only for a littl while. It just proves how much people are liking you and trusting you.
And thanks for the birthday wish, although, I was looking for a large package in the mail yesterday of a dancer:)
U.S. took me for a romantic dinner, horse and carriage ride in Old Deerfield, MA on Saturday. Then my 2 best firnds took me to see Sex in the City 2 (awesome movie) and I wore my new hot sexy shoes (the ones that would give Mama a nose bleed just looking at them they are so high) plus I smuggled in a bottle of champagne in my purse and it exploded in the movie theater....very funny! We were dying laughing! Aren't you happy to know that at 44 your Aunt Shannon is such a role model and still so mature:)
Thanks for all the photos and keep them coming...however, take some of Dom's house, your room, and his family (grandparents too)!
Keep exploring and laughing at yourself!
    Miss you and Big Hugs!!
    XOXO

  3. Hi Ali,

Well this will be the third time I have tried to write to you on this page. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Anyway, I will keep this short.

Thanks Kris for all the fabulous photos of Ali, we now have a whole refrigerator full!

    Belated Happy Birthday to Shannon.

And way to go Ali, getting a job and negotiating your way around town. 15 stalls won't take you very long and you will have lots of time to do other things.

No exciting news around here and for us that is probably a good thing. Ponies are fine, dogs are driving us crazy, and the farm looks like a jungle, which is to say, nothing new.

We think of you often and send you lots of love.
    Ceacy And Nan
