Yesterday and Today

Sorry I didn't write yesterday, we got home late and then watched Avatar. What an awesome movie!!!!!!!! Wish I had seen it in 3D. I rode Ali again and it was a little better but not great! He is very hard to ride and Dom makes it look easy. I was really happy because we took them out for a hack and trotted through some really pretty trails. I love hacking! Both horses were really good and I think Ali really enjoyed it (or both Alis?! This is confusing!). We started our afternoon by going to a huge tack store which was filled with German brands we never see in America. I wanted to buy everything... ! I bought a saddle pad (not orange, actually a green/ gray with light yellow and green trim) and a pair of gloves. We had a lot of fun in the tack store. We tried on lots of funny clothes (I tried on a men's red show jumping coat which was for someone who weighed about 400 lbs)! Dom bought the hat and sunglasses in the picture and he plans to wear them at his next show. We drove from the tack store to a huge mall in Munich and walked around and ate amazing pizza. There was a fun store (AS and US, reminded me of you!!! The picture of me with the martini glass is for you guys) which sold home decor and funky stuff. We also went to a fashion store and I actually bought a pair of jeans... oh how I "love" shopping! Dom's dad really does love it and was finding stuff I was allowed to wear (or something like this)! But it was fun and in the end I got some Ice Cream so I was very happy.
Today we rode the horses in the morning, I started Ali and attempted to do some collected canter but I was pulling on the reins too much (does this sound familiar... no... never!!) and he was not really on the bit all the time. We switched horses at the end and then I learned a strange card game while we were waiting for the to dry. It was chilly today! And... still raining! After lunch we went into Augsburg to meet with Dom's German teacher and another girl. It was fun and I got to speak English with them! This teacher is smart and crazy. The students call him Papi (as in Daddy). We got coffee (ok... they got coffee, I got ice cream) and then we walked around Augsburg. We went into a bookstore and the bank. It was very fun and a really pretty city. Very different from any I have seen in America. Well, off to bed or to read American Psycho.

  1. Well Ali, There was something way too domestic looking about you in a home decor display, although I heartily approve of the beret and shades, I even like the scarf! Dom looks quite handsome in his shades and beret too, although you two could almost pass for some kind of underground agents if it weren't for the big smiles.

So how about some photos of the countryside instead of shopping malls! Don't tell me that you are becoming citified so quickly!!!!

American Psycho? What are you reading?!

    Cheers, Ceacy

  2. Hey Sweat Pea,
Thanks for the photo of the martini glass! I love it! Very elegant......and some of us already knew how much fun shopping can be....are you coming over to my way of thinking:) Can't wait to see you in those jeans!! I agree with Ceacy, you two look like double agents or something with the glasses and berets.....did Dom really wear them in the show??
Sounds like you are having sooo much fun, learning lots and picking up some German lingo along the way. Plus it sounds like Dom's dad is a hoot! Perhaps he, U.S. and me will be able to drink together someday! Tell him I would love the pleasure......be careful with too much ice cream and I love the way your green coat and gray purse look on you....again, very elegant.
And yes...more photos of the forest, your living quarters, and Dom's family...especially the funny grandparents...I bet they are too cute!!
Have you had any German Black Forest cake yet? U.S.'s favorite!!
Have we told you lately how much we love you and how proud we are of you for diving into this experience with all your heart and soul and for just being yourself!!!!
    XOXO

  3. I missed you last night, but you made up for it with the beret picture :) I thought maybe you were at the disco last night and that's why you didn't write. The tack store looks awesome and I noticed you got the "Pikeur" sign in the photo! I think I'd like to go shopping with Dom's dad!!

Taylor and I are off to NYC to spend the day with Dr. Osofsky tomorrow. We plan to leave bright and early. We went to a retirement party at Williston for Ann Van and Paul S. tonight. It was fun... Hawaiian theme. I finally planted our garden today. I'll take pictures as things start to grow.

Glad you're having so much fun!!!! Susannah White was asking about you tonight and I will e-mail her your blog address.

    Love you LOTS!
